The ACT branch wishes to pass on their condolences to the family of children's book illustrator Kilmeny Niland.
Kilmeny had been ill, and was the daughter of writers Ruth Park and D'Arcy Niland and twin of Deborah (amongst her other siblings), also a book illustrator. Kilmeny has two recent titles—Fat Pat and Two Tough Teddies— which are typical of her characteristic charming, witty, child-friendly style.

The ACT branch wishes to pass on their condolences to the family of children's literature advocate Sandy Campbell.
For over 20 years Sandy was actively involved in the CBCA NSW (Children’s Book Council of Australia) where she recently held the role of President and subsequently Secretary. She instigated many of our current activities that bring children together with their favourite authors and illustrators. She was instrumental in bringing the idea of a library in to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead – now operational for 10 years with a staff of 30 volunteer librarians. Her work was honoured in 2002 when Sandy received the Lady Cutler Award for services to children’s literature.
To continue Sandy's passion, the CBCA Foundation have begun a campaign to raise $5000 in Sandy’s name for the Awards Foundation. If we achieve this, we will be able to add Sandy’s name to the list of Major Donors and it will be there for ever. If you wish to make a contribution, please use this form
